Matthew Perry just made our holiday gift shopping plans so much easier. The one and only Chandler Bing is releasing a limited-edition line of Friends-inspired T-shirts to benefit the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 relief efforts, and we’re definitely buying one for the Friends-obsessed fans in our lives.
The actor announced the new line on Instagram on December 4, posting a picture of himself in a T-shirt featuring a cartoon version of Chandler dancing (it’s from when he explained why he doesn’t dance at weddings) with the slogan “Could this BE any more of a T-shirt?” In the picture, Perry is also using a banana as a telephone, though he mentions in the caption that the fruit is not included in shirt orders.
The full collection includes mugs, hats, T-shirts, and sweatshirts with the cartoon on them and quotes like “Could this BE any more of a [item]” and “What is this, an [item]?” The website specifies that “a portion” of the proceeds will go to the WHO, though not how much.
Perry, who recently became engaged to his girlfriend, literary manager Molly Hurwitz, last posted on Instagram in July, when he noted that David Beckham was wearing a T-shirt featuring a still of himself and Matt LeBlanc from the show. Maybe that’s where he got the idea? After all, if people are going to put your face on their shirts, you might as well get something out of it (and give something to charity too).
While the long-awaited and much-delayed reunion special on HBOMax still hasn’t quite materialized, Perry recently assured fans that the Friends reunion will be taping in March 2021. “Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March,” he tweeted in November 2020. “Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!”
At least, for now, this is something Friends fans can share with the Joeys and Chandlers in their lives…if they haven’t already spent all their money on the makeup collab.
